SteelSeries Arctis 5 is one of the Arctis series gaming headsets that every gamer needs to buy because of its great sound, impressive mic with a perfect design at an affordable price.
It is quite difficult to find best gaming headsets that deliver per your needs. Not only clear sound is needed but they must be able to hear it to know from where it comes.
There are not many affordable gaming headphones which are top quality in gaming sound and comfortable enough to keep on for long use. SteelSeries set in the market their latest Arctis lineup of gaming headsets with a lot of commendation and acclaim. There is a total of three models in this class: SteelSeries Arctis 3, 5, and 7. Each version features some small differences, yet maintains a high level of quality and value.
SteelSeries Arctis 5 Features:
All three models in the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 have a boom microphone. The boom microphone on each headset model is retractable. SteelSeries customs their ClearCast bi-directional mic technology that provides high quality audio and great noise rejection. These models have built-in controls on the headset ear cup for volume adjustment and mic mute are very handy.
Also, if you like visual customization, the Arctis 5 model gives RGB illumination changes around the outer edge of the ear cups. All the three models are value for money. They are very good on the sound quality and do well on comfort and durability as well.
The earphones have a design which is heavy for the ears and the emphasized bass helps in controlling the noise outside the headset. Although, the active noise cancellation is not an active feature, but still they are good at passive noise isolation.
The SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 models are generally comfortable to use but there is a slight issue with the earpads which are pretty shallow. In terms comfort this headset equates Sennheiser PC 363D.
The physical design of the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 is a welcome feature when equated to many other bulky and large gaming headsets. It appears like a lot of thought was put into the design of this headset, also, the quality of the materials used in construction is evidently as good as in Skullcandy PLYR 1 . One negative in the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 design is the several analog cables provided depending on what device you want to connect to.
First thing to check for any gaming handset is the compatibility range. The SteelSeries Arctis headsets of the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7are compatible with PC, Mac, Xbox One, Play station, mobile devices, and VR devices.
The 7.1 virtual surround sound feature is only available for Windows users for the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 models. Now that’s not very good. The Arctis 3 model features analog audio connections only. The Arctis 5 and 7 have both USB and analog 3.5mm audio cables. The Arctis 7 model, on the other hand, also comes with the added feature for wireless audio.
The overall gaming sound for the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 models is pretty good. You can also customize the audio settings with the SteelSeries Engine 3 software and save your sound presets. These models are good for gaming sound but not for music. For the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7, if the bass response seems a little lower than anticipated, it can be easily adjusted the headband strap to get a tighter fit and seal.
On the whole, the SteelSeries Arctis Series 3/5/7 are value for money models which let you enjoy your gaming with good quality sound. The comfort level is pretty good but the cable can be an issue to deal with. The overall quality is pretty good and good on the money.
